Red-necked Phalarope, Jamaica Bay
Lloyd Spitalnik alerted me to a juvenile Red-necked Phalarope on the
East Pond of Jamaica Bay on August 31st 2003. I'd previously chased
Red-necked at Jamaica Bay and come up empty, but this particular bird was
very tame, and stayed a long time at the same point - getting within 6 feet
of me on several occaisions. This was my first one in NYC and my fourth
ever. You can see a couple of winter plumage (gray) feathers coming in
on this bird, although the plumage is almost perfect juvenile.
Just Another Shorebird
A fairly typical result of crawling in the mud for an hour or two.

Worn Adult Eastern Wood-Pewee
A brief visit to Bombay Hook in August 2003 yielded a few pictures of
a worn adult Eastern Wood-Pewee, posing cooperatively.
